What to include when reporting a number

We can only check a figure we can reproduce. The calculators keep nothing, so we have no record of what you entered — everything we need has to be in your message.

  • The figure you saw and the figure you expected.
  • Every input you entered: gross revenue, expenses, W-2 wages, filing status.
  • Which page it was on, and whether you had answered the specified-service question.

If you have a source that disagrees with us — an IRS form, a revenue procedure, a worksheet line — send it. Every constant on this site is traceable on the methodology page, and a citation is the fastest way to settle whether the difference is a defect or a different assumption.

Submitting sends your name, email, subject and message to Web3Forms, our email processor, along with technical metadata it records itself. The privacy policy sets out exactly what that is and who else sees it.
